How to save recipes from TikTok

Updated

Quick answer

To save a recipe from TikTok on iPhone, open the video, tap the Share arrow, open the iPhone share sheet and choose Miso Cook. Miso reads the recipe from the video's description and turns it into a list of ingredients and numbered steps. You check the result, edit anything that's off, and save it to your collection, where you can change the servings, add it to your weekly meal plan and send the ingredients to a shared grocery list. This works when the creator wrote the recipe in the description. If the recipe is only spoken or shown in the video, look for a link to the full recipe on the creator's blog and save that page instead. Miso Cook is free to download for iPhone and iPad, and the free plan includes 5 recipe imports a month.

Save a TikTok recipe in four steps

  1. 1

    Open the recipe video

Find the TikTok with the recipe you want to keep. Tap "more" under the caption to check that the ingredients and method are written in the description. That text is what Miso reads.

  2. 2

Tap Share and choose Miso Cook

Tap the Share arrow on the right, then tap More in TikTok's share panel to open the iPhone share sheet, and pick Miso Cook. If you don't see it, scroll to the end of the row of apps, tap More, and add Miso Cook to your favorites so it's always there.

  3. 3

    Check the recipe preview

Miso shows the ingredients and steps it found. Fix a quantity, rename the recipe or add a missing step before you save. The result depends on what the creator wrote, so a quick look takes a few seconds and saves surprises later.

  4. 4

    Save it and plan it

Save the recipe to your collection. From there you can scale the servings, add it to a day in your weekly meal plan, or put its ingredients on your grocery list, which everyone in your household sees.

What if the recipe is only in the video?

Some creators say the recipe out loud or show it as on-screen text and leave the description empty. Miso reads the description only, so in that case there is nothing for it to import.

Check the caption and the creator's pinned comment for a link to the full recipe. Many food creators publish the written version on their blog or website. Open that page in Safari, tap Share, choose Miso Cook, and save the recipe from there. You can also add a recipe to Miso yourself and type in what you saw in the video.

Saving a "recipe in bio" link

When a caption says "full recipe at the link in my bio", tap the creator's profile, open the link in their bio and find the recipe page. Share that page to Miso Cook from your browser. Recipe websites usually list exact quantities and steps, so the import is often more complete than a video description.

Why not just use TikTok Favorites?

Tapping the bookmark saves the video to your TikTok Favorites, which is fine for inspiration. To cook from it you have to rewatch the video, pause it at the right moment and scroll the caption with messy hands. If the creator deletes the video or makes it private, it disappears from your Favorites too.

Saving the recipe itself keeps the ingredients and steps as text you can read while you cook, scale for more people and turn into a shopping list.

Questions about saving TikTok recipes

Can Miso save a recipe that's only in the video?

No. Miso reads the recipe from the video's description. If the recipe is only spoken or shown on screen, look for a link to the written recipe on the creator's blog and save that page, or add the recipe yourself.

Is Miso Cook free?

Miso Cook is free to download, and the free plan includes 5 recipe imports a month. A Pro subscription raises the limits and unlocks more features. Current prices are on the pricing page and in the app.

Does it work on Android?

Not at the moment. Miso Cook is available for iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later.

What happens if the creator deletes the video?

The recipe you saved stays in your Miso collection, because Miso keeps the ingredients and steps, not the video.

Can I save recipes from other apps and websites too?

Yes. The same Share flow works for Instagram posts, YouTube descriptions and recipe websites. Pages with written ingredients and instructions work best.

Can my family see the recipes I save?

Yes, if you create a household in Miso and invite them with a QR code. Members share recipes, meal plans and the grocery list, and changes sync across their devices.
